Minecraft, one of the most successful and popular games in the world, allows users to create anything they could dream up in a sandbox world. While not the most technically impressive, this game offers the players complete freedom and has gained much popularity throughout the years.
The ability to modify the games content to create new words is great for the longevity of the game, however some mods are a little more malicious. The latest issues are with certain character skin mods, which malicious users have uploaded. They contain a script which goes through the victim’s computer and deletes the data. This script even goes ahead and deletes the backups as well. Messaging taunting the user may appear as well.
Mojang, the developers of Minecraft, are currently working on sorting these issues out by removing the vulnerable skins. In the meantime, it may be wise to stay away from mods that aren’t trusted for a while.
